Pantry

What this module is for

Pantry is the stock view of what is physically in the house. It is useful when a family wants more than a shopping list and needs to know what is already there, what is running low, and what should be used before it expires.

What people usually do here

  • Record items with quantities, units, storage locations and best-before dates.
  • Check what is low, empty, expired or expiring soon.
  • Adjust quantities quickly when something is used or restocked.
  • Push low items to shopping without retyping them.

How it connects to other modules

  • Shopping is the natural partner for restocking and for booking purchases back in.
  • Meals and Recipes benefit because the pantry helps show what is already available for the week.

Good to know

  • Minimum stock can be stored per item, which makes low-stock filtering much more useful in practice.
  • Storage locations can be renamed and sorted without losing the stock assigned to them.
  • Items that were checked off after a shop can be booked into the pantry with their quantity and unit, so shopping does not end when you leave the store.
  • Pantry is especially useful for households that batch-buy staples, freeze meals or track expiry-sensitive items.
